150 Years Climbing on Matterhorn

This summer, it’s 150 years ago since the most famous mountain of Switzerland, the Matterhorn, was first climbed. To celebrate this event I selected 5 photo’s I made in the past 15 years from this magical mountain.

The photo on top is my “winner”. A classic view on Matterhorn made at 5 am, just after sunrise, at the Riffelsee.

The photo under is a Capra Ibex looking right into my lens, with the Matterhorn and Hornli Ridge in the back.

Hereunder a sunrise view on the unknown North Face of Matterhorn. Photo shot at sunrise from the highest mountain hut in Western Europe: the Capanna Regina Margerita at Italy’s highest point: the Signalkuppe:

Number 4: a view just before sunrise from the Zermatt side, close to Riffelalp:

And the last photo of my selection, one of the first digital images I made from Matterhorn (with a Sony Cybershot back in the days): a panoramic image of the Matterhorn North Face, made at sunset, seen from the highest point in Italy, the Signalkuppe.
